WordPress is one of the most popular Content Management Systems in the world, and is used by millions of small business owners and bloggers. In addition to the standard WordPress platform, hundreds of developers have built a vast range of handy plugins that make WordPress even easier to use. The only problem is knowing which are worth installing. That’s why I’ve put together this list of the top 5 WordPress plugins for 2019.
As an SEO specialist it is impossible for me to go past Yoast. This WordPress plugin is great for anyone interested in improving their website SEO. It’s functionality and ease of use makes it perfect for anyone from beginner to expert. Yoast allows you to easily change your meta descriptions, tags and titles. And best of all offers a large range of suggestions on how you can improve your on page SEO and lead to higher search engine rankings.
I am a huge fan of WPBakery and always install it on my WordPress sites. It is very easy to use, even if you are an absolute beginner. The best thing about it is that clients get used to it very quickly as well. And that is something that is an absolute must when you are building websites for small business owners. It’s no good if you build them an amazing website if they cant make any changes to it, or add blog posts for example.
3. Google XML Sitemaps
This is another plugin that will do wonders for your SEO. When you install and activate the plugin it creates a sitemap. This makes it easier for search engines to find, crawl, and index your website. Pro tip: If you have a website you should sign up to Google Search Console and submit your xml sitemap. Signing up to Google Analytics is also a good idea.
4. Smush Image Compression and Optimisation
Nothing will slow down your website faster than oversized images. Smush is an easy to use plugin that you can use to compress and optimise all the images on your website in less than a day. As Google increasingly takes page loading time into account Smush gives you the edge.
5. WP Forms
Every website needs a contact form. WP Forms comes with a drag and drop builder meaning that you don’t need to touch a single line of code. Pre built templates are also available. You aren’t restricted to contact forms however. You can easily create order forms, survey forms, subscription forms and more. WP Forms is available in both a free and paid version. I strongly recommend paying for the extra features in the premium version. It is much better than the free one.
If you have a WordPress website and are unsure about how to install a plugin or would like some other work done, don’t hesitate to get in touch and I’ll provide you with a quote.
