Grow Your Small Business
As a small business owner myself I appreciate how hard it can be to grow your small business. Talking to other small business owners has helped me realise that a lot of people are asking this question.
Growing your small business can seem like a real challenge, especially when you live in a small town or city. Here in Armidale the population is around 20,000 compared to something like 50,000 in greater Tamworth and Lismore, but clearly the smaller size of Armidale has not held local small businesses back. You only need to look at The Welder’s Dog – which now has a bar in Tamworth, in addition to their Armidale bar. Plenty of people doubted that a craft beer bar could succeed outside a larger regional centre. More fool them.
Specific Ways To Grow Your Small Business
Government small business websites provide many suggestions to small business owners. Here is a brief list:
Get to know your customers.
Offer great customer service.
Nurture existing companies and look for new opportunities.
Utilise social media such as Facebook
Attend networking events
Give back to your community.
Grow Your Small Business Online
As a web developer and SEO professional I would add the importance of getting a website and utilising search engine optimisation to the list above. I was talking to a small business mentor recently and he was well aware of the importance of having a website (and keeping it updated) but he didn’t really understand the important part SEO plays in helping grow your business online.
A lot of people are put off the idea of professional web development and SEO services because they are worried about the cost. When you are a small business owner in Armidale, Tamworth or even further afield it can seem hard to justify spending money on an SEO campaign when you are struggling to make a profit. But it doesn’t have to be that way. At Northern NSW SEO we understand that a marketing campaign can’t be justified unless it helps grow the business.
In the next section I’ll discuss how we are making a difference by keeping our prices down so small business owners can grow their business successfully.
Small Business Marketing In Armidale
Small business marketing in Armidale is no longer just a matter of putting an ad in the Yellow Pages. While there will always be a place for print marketing, including newspapers, direct mail and the like, customers are increasingly searching online. When someone wants a small business they will probably do a Google search.
As I mentioned above, most Armidale business owners these days recognise the importance of having a web presence. However it is one thing to own a website, but you can’t grow your business online if no one can find it.
Northern NSW SEO is committed to small business marketing in Armidale. That’s why we have developed a small business package. We’re giving small businesses in the New England and north coast a website plus two months of SEO for only $1500. Your business will be able to pay in three monthly instalments of $500.
Of course there are other methods of small business marketing in Armidale. One of the best are Business Enterprise Centres. Most towns and cities have a BEC office. The staff can give business owners great advice and show them where they can get the best local business assistance.
Most towns also have a Small Business Chamber. By joining your local chamber small business owners are getting access to the support and mentorship of other business owners. It’s a great way of networking and getting local business support.
Locals 4 Locals
Here in Armidale, a number of businesses have banded together to form a great initiative called Locals 4 Locals. Becoming a member of Locals 4 Locals means you get support from other local business owners that can help you grow your own business. Additionally, by displaying the Locals 4 Locals sign businesses are able to show their commitment to the local community. Shoppers who want to support local business can identify locally owned businesses and they may prefer to shop there rather than at a business owned by a national or multinational company. Locals 4 Locals has done a lot to provide effective small business marketing in Armidale.
I am not sure if other cities in the region run a locals 4 locals program. However I would be surprised if larger centres such as Tamworth, Lismore, Grafton and Coffs Harbour weren’t doing something similar. If not, they should be. In any case, here at Northern NSW SEO we’re doing our best to provide business owners with the easiest and most affordable way to grow your small business online. We hope we have managed to put together a small business package that will provide a fast return on investment.
We would also love to hear your feedback. What else can we do to support your small business? You can leave a comment here or get in touch via Facebook or Twitter. I’ll be in Lismore, Grafton and Yamba for a few weeks from mid December until early in the new year so if you live in that area you can get in touch and tell me in person 😉
